Jimmian Calendar
Summary
Jimmian astrological time is very similar to Radrolf, Earth and planet|Korzon time in that it is divided into months and days. While Jimmian and Radrolf have no distinct moons orbiting them, they do have a scattering of asteroids circling, each with a larger mass coalescing around larger pieces representing a substantial-enough mass to drive a slight tidal force. These tidal forces represent the monthly calendar even though they have little visible representation in the night sky as Earth's moon does. Still, there is a slight shimmering effect to the larger orbiting asteroids on each world, and these are lit by the Jimmian Sun in much the same fashion as Earth's moon.
So Jimmian's year is divided into a number of months and these months are further divided into solar days, since the original planet of Reythkien rotated on an axis in much the same fashion as Earth and planet|Korzon do. There are 418 days in the Jimmian year and nine (9) months. Each month has 49 days except Cinmis, which has variously 26 or 25 days for the same reason as Earth's February with 28 or 29 days.
Jimmian days are further divided into 28 hours of 49 minutes each. Jimmian minutes are further divided into 49 seconds. All of these multiples of seven are quite intentional and are primarily based on the relationship of the Jimmian months to the asteroid belt rotation rate divided by the days per rotation.
For reasons lost in antiquity, Jimmians base their number systems on the cardinal value seven (7), so while in decimal terms Jimmians have seven days in their week, Jimmians say they have 10, and while in decimal terms they have 49 minutes per hour, in septimal terms they have 100 minutes per hour and 100 seconds per minute, yielding 10,000 seconds per hour. So while in decimal terms they have 28 hours per day, in septimal terms they have 40 hour per day and 4,000 minutes and 400,000 seconds per day. In septimal terms, they also have 100 days per month, except for Cinmis, which has variously 34 or 35 septimal days.
This mathematical challenge was by far the most difficult thing for William and Cinthia to adjust to in their early years with the Jimmians and Taminen. For both cultures maintained the same basic mathematical principals, another obvious indication of their shared descent. While Korzon shared Earth's decimal number system.
Years
The Jimmian orbital period (year) is 1.325 times longer than the orbital period of Earth and 0.9109 times shorter than the orbital period of Radrolf. So a three year old Jimmian child would be roughly four years old on Earth and a six year old Jimmian child would be eight years old, etc. Thus the fifteen year old Zequ would actually be nearly twenty on Earth. Similarly, when William announced that he was about seventeen to people on Jimmian, they naturally assumed he was an Earth equivalent of 22 1/2 years old, finished or nearly finished with his post-graduate education. This effect was magnified by the fact that all else being equal, Jimmians physically mature sooner than Humans and live significantly longer - well past 110 Jimmian years old or 145 years on Earth.
Months
Jimmian's year is divided into nine (9) months. Each new year begins in the Spring with the Month named Tarse. The Jimmian months are:
| Tarse | 49 days |
| Shenfe | 49 days |
| Mante | 49 days |
| Zentos | 49 days |
| Cinmis | 25/26 days |
| Filmos | 49 days |
| Namion | 49 days |
| Lethnion | 49 days |
| Tarsion | 49 days |
Each month has 49 (decimal) days (100 septimal), except Cinmis which has 25 (decimal) days (34 septimal) every seventh year and 26 (decimal) days (35 septimal) otherwise.
Weeks
Each month other than Cinmis has seven weeks. Jimmian weeks always begin on the first day of each month and are seven days long. The Jimmian days of the week are named for the first seven members of the Vezanese unification, Vezan, Girv, Craz, Tolt, Zast, Menor and Crull. The month of Cinmis has only three weeks in it. The names of the last four or five days (depending on leap-year status) are from antiquity and derive from Old Thietian.

Days
Jimmian solar days are divided into 28 (decimal) hours (40 septimal). Each hour is divided into 49 (decimal) minutes (100 septimal) and each minute is divided into 49 (decimal) seconds (100 septimal). Jimmian days are 1.1574 times longer than Earth days and Jimmian seconds are approximately 992 Earth milliseconds long.
Seasons
The Jimmian axial offset versus its orbital plane is less severe than Earth's , so Jimmian seasons are less significantly changed. Thus the difference in average daily temperature between summer and winter on Jimmian is less than the difference on Earth at equivalent latitudes from the equator. This is almost exactly the same for Radrolf, although not precisely since the planets have slightly different wobbles in their rotations.
