Summary

Jonteau is the first Jimmian colony found and claimed in 1038AU by the original starship Balancanna in the Deldrenough 441 system. At that time, Jonteau was almost four days from Jimmian, using the best engine technology available. By the end of the war, with the latest engine designs, Jonteau was only a day and a half from Jimmian.

The planet is small, yielding only 70 percent of the gravity of Jimmian and completely lifeless. It has a slight, native magnetic field and thus little defense from stellar radiation. It's day/night cycle is almost twice (180%) the period of Jimmian's and its stellar year is less than half (43%) of Jimmian's. It's axial tilt is a bit more than Jimmian's giving it more severe seasons.

Location

Jonteau is located approximately 33,871 light years from Jimmian in the Deldrenough 441 system.

Local System

Jonteau is the second of four rocky planets in the Deldrenough 441 system. A fifth planet is a gas giant many times larger than the largest of the rocky planets with at least a dozen minor moons. Jonteau is the only planet in the system with enough suitable conditions to be considered for colonization.

Reformation

Most of Jonteau's native features are nearly but not quite suitable for sustaining life. After some discussion with Korzon about its potential, Jimmian entered into an agreement whereby they would purchase technologies from Korzon to handle soil and atmospheric reformation while they would provide the energy, gravimetric and magnetic technologies to augment the planet's natural features.

Thus Korzon was given money and resources to research and invent many of the core bio-technologies they would go on to use in their own colony worlds and Jimmian would further share fielding and shielding technology on a larger scale than had ever been deployed before to facilitate "doming" small colony sites that could be safely joined together one at a time as the colony site grew.

Over the next decade, the atmosphere and quite a bit of local soil on Jonteau was reformed into suitable conditions for small-scale planting of a selection of crops from Jimmian that could endure the lower gravity and general temperatures and sunlight available on the world.
