A planet approximately seven days travel from Jimmian in a line generally perpendicular to that drawn between Jimmian and Earth. Korzon is generally opposite the galactic center from Jimmian

Summary

Discovered by Jimmian on Cryllanyen, 6 Tarsion, 1025 as the result of radio wave analysis, the G'Zheret system contains four rocky planets, including Korzon and three gas giants. The first two planets are much too small and hot to be useful for colonization. The third is quite large, seven times the size of Korzon with a solar day cycle of almost four months. It's atmosphere is much to dense, poisonous and radioactive for much other use than industrial mining. Korzon, the fourth planet is large by Jimmian standards, for a habitable planet, coming in at almost twice the size of Jimmian.

International Relations

At first, Korzon and Jimmian developed a mutually beneficial trade relationship. Korzon received space faring technologies that allowed it, in time, to begin looking for much needed colony worlds to offload their burgeoning population. Jimmian received much valued medical and biological research technologies, curing many diseases and generally improving lifestyles and longevity on Jimmian. But this warm relationship was not to last.

Dispute Over Scanning and Engine Designs

In 1034 after a long and some argue, biased investigation, the Korzon government accused Jimmian of purposely withholding their latest, long-range scanning technology as well as their best engine designs for improved gravimetric efficiency. This suggested that Jimmian was purposely limiting Korzon's ability to "see" and "travel to" the furthest reaches of the galaxy before Jimmian could, even though they had agreed to avoid one another's discovery paths. Korzon also charged Jimmian with deliberately choosing the most statistically advantageous regions of the galaxy to search for life and colony worlds.

Rejection of Korzon Relief Requests on Jonteau

In 1038 Jimmian discovered and claimed a small but environmentally hostile world in the Deldrenough 441 system, in accordance with the treaty of Gaweti-ne guidelines, posting a claim beacon satellite and filing their claim with the Korzon embassy in Craz. Then, after requesting and receiving Korzon assistance to develop biological elements and a plan to help reform the planet into something more suitable for life, Jimmian began building a colony and named the world Jonteau. It was still a barren wasteland of a world, but with the powerful biological vectors developed using Korzon technologies, it would become more suitable over the next decade, until it could support quite reasonable farms and towns, with a little technological help from Jimmian power reactors and radiation shields, for the planet has a minimal natural magnetic field.

In 1040, Korzon officially filed a request to allow up to one third of the planet to be colonized by Korzon for the relief of their poorest and most-desperate population - this in return for their assistance in developing the biological vectors that were transforming the planet into something useful. But after a month of consideration by the Jimmian government, and assurances that there were good planetary indicators in other areas the Korzons were surveying, their request was denied. Korzon was stunned by this second refusal for help.

Discovery of Delazhavos

Delazhavos is a world in the Ganari-néte 2345 system discovered on Mandzetuk, 41 Nukhel 3590. Unlike Jonteau, Delazhavos is a perfectly suited world with the very best possible conditions for food production and colonization. As per the treaty of Gaweti-ne, the Korzon government posted a claim beacon satellite in orbit around Delezhavos and filed their claim with the Jimmian embassy. After hastily putting together an initial set of colony ships with four thousand colony families and almost two thousand tons of supplies, they arrived at Delezhavos only twelve days later to discover a Jimmian starship and a fresh Jimmian claim beacon already in orbit, claiming the world for Jimmian.

Since Jimmian had clearly broken treaty, the Korzon fleet commander ignored the Jimmian ship and their insistence on Jimmian's claim and ordered the colony ships to land. The Jimmian starship moved into attack range of the colony ships with weapons charged and seeing no other choice, the Korzon commander ordered his escort ships to defend the colonists. But the Jimmian starship and attack ships were too powerful and the Korzon escorts too disorganized in their attempt to protect scattering colonists to mount an effective defense. The entire Korzon colony fleet was wiped out and the war with Jimmian began.

Colony Worlds

By the end of the war with Jimmian, Korzon had three colony worlds, V'kezhán, Ha'mézhin and Damuin Neadu. With the signed Treaty of Canberra, Korzon regained control of Delazhavos after their unconditional surrender and turning over all military technology to Jimmian.

V'kezhán

V'kezhán was discovered on Menanyen, 34 Filmos 1035 in the Kol-zeáte 1023 system. A small and planet with a nominally acceptable magnetic field and thin atmosphere, Korzon went immediately to work on designing a biological course of reformation for the world. This would be the first time they used their advanced biotech in this way. Jimmian provided power reactors and logistical support to facilitate their reformation of the planet and in under two years the world was substantially improved. They would have difficulty keeping the atmostphere bound to the lower gravity (only half the normal gravity of Korzon), but the two worlds collaborated on a means of producing very large environment fields that could act as atmospheric barriers to augment the planet's natural gravity to keep the upper atmosphere from escaping.

By 1038 the project was working extremely well and Korzon had close to thirty thousand colony families there, transforming thousands of square miles of sterile native soil into fertile farms. Much of the success of the project was due to donated Jimmian transportation and physical materials to support the effort.

By the end of the war with Jimmian, V'kezhán had a population of seven hundred million and was supplying almost ten percent of Korzon's food requirements.

Ha'mézhin

Ha'mézhin was discovered and colonized after the war started and was therefore not recorded in accordance with the treaty of Gaweti-ne. Ha'mézhin was founded on Girvanyen, 23 Namion 1044 and is located in the Kol-zeáte 7212 system, six days from Korzon and about ten days from Jimmian. Ha'mézhin is a large world, almost twice the size of Korzon, with a long day/night cycle (three and a half Korzon days), that makes it particularly difficult to reform. Many plants simply do not tolerate the higher gravity and even when genetically modified to stand up to it are less that ideal for food. Still, the Korzons have managed to develop several strains of simple food staples that can be grown there as the atmosphere is reformed. The long days aren't as difficult as the long nights for plants, where temperatures can drop fifty degrees celsius until the next morning. This can be offset some by hydro-thermal capacitors that absorb sunlight during the very long days, shielding the otherwise delicate plants from the excessive heat that builds up and releasing the stored heat during the coldest part of the long nights.

These remediations are not perfect but they've given just enough respite so these critical food supplies can be grown on a very large scale. Still, without Jimmian raw materials to help supply the effort, it was very difficult for Korzon to get the project off the ground and took many more years that it might otherwise have taken.

By the end of the war with Jimmian, Ha'mézhin had a population of thirty million and was supplying nearly four percent of Korzon's food requirements.

Damuin Neadu

The colony of Damuin Neadu was founded on Vezannyen, 1 Mante 1054 during the war with Jimmian and was therefore not recorded in accordance with the treaty of Gaweti-ne. Damuin Neadu is a cold planet with otherwise quite reasonable features. It is distant from its white star but is large enough to maintain a thicker atmosphere and solid magnetic field. It also has a good day/night cycle only a little longer than Korzon's. With the appropriate modifications to the atmospheric shielding they learned from Jimmian, the Korzons were able to develop a field allow a larger amount of solar radiation in while keeping low altitude heat from escaping into the upper atmosphere on clear days and nights, thus incrementally warming the planet until it could support farming of hardier crops from colder climates of Korzon.

By the end of the war Damuin Neadu had a population of two hundred fifty million and was producing seven percent of Korzon's food requirements.
