Aestatle

Aestatle is the Jimmian name for the planet designated Delazhavos by Korzon.

Summary

The second Jimmian colony, Aestatle, was discovered on Craznyen, 3 Lethnion 1041AU by the Jimmian Starship Valiant in the Lordinough 224 system a little over two and a half days from Jimmian, roughly half-way between the Jimmian and Korzon systems.

Location

Aestatle is located approximately 56,452 light years from Jimmian.

Disputed Claim

It is a matter of record that Korzon disputes the Jimmian claim. The Korzon government insists its exploration fleet discovered the same world it names Delazhavos ("Gift of God") and recorded its claim to the world on Girvanyen, 2 Lethnion 1041AU, one day earlier, with the Jimmian embassy in Gaweti-ne on Korzon. It is the official position of the Korzon government that their claim beacon (satellite) was purposely destroyed and the records filed with Jimmian erased by Jimmian agents to falsely lay claim to the nearly perfect and suitable world for colonization.

It is a matter of record that the two worlds sent ships to the planet, Korzon sending colony ships, Jimmian sending a research vessel (at the time), the Valiant, to survey the new world. Korzon deployed their colony transports under armed guard. The Valiant moved to block the Korzon colony ships. Shots were fired by both sides, each claiming the other fired first. In the end, the colony ships were destroyed along with most of the small Korzon fleet and Valiant was very heavily damaged. Both sides agree that it was this conflict that started the decades long conflict known by later Jimmian historians as the Aestatle/Delezhavos War.

Government

The first governor of Aestatle was Belequ of Vezalo, a distant relation of the royal family but a good organizer. He set up the basic layout of the first three towns, including Aiileeze, the capital city. Belequ retired from the position in 1049AU. He was replaced by Talwren of Menedeli who held the position for almost ten years.

Talwren's greatest challenge was overseeing the immigration of more than thirty-five million Jimmian citizens during the hasty evacuation effort started in 1053AU. Fortunately, the evacuation effort was terminated soon after it began, because despite all the preparations and best efforts of everyone involved, it became clear soon after the effort started that it would never succeed in moving even a plurality of the population of Jimmian in the necessary time. Nonetheless, many of those immigrants remained on Aestatle and lived for years in the makeshift camps setup in those early, fearful days. It was their intention to expand those camps into real urban centers complete with suburbs and rural farms to support them.

In 1058AU, Talwren also retired, moving to the northern city of Nestal on the coast of the most beautiful coral sea on Aestatle, the Tavenorin Sea. That same year, the young Princess Illundis, daughter of Prince Aeliano of Menor was made the governor of Aestatle. It was seen at the time as a mildly controversial posting and widely known to be against her father's wishes. But Queen Zequ made the appointment after carefully interviewing the Princess and considering the status of the colony world. Princess Illundis would be the last governor of Aestatle before it handed over to the Korzons as Delazhavos, part of the negotiated treaty at the end of the war. Princess Illundis would stay on as the governor of the autonomous, limited region of Delazhavos that would remain leased to Jimmian for 99 years.
